There are many different types of hot water heaters available these days, some more energy efficient than others. The traditional tank style water heater is still the most common, but it’s also one of the least efficient types. After all, using energy all day long to keep the water in the tank hot – whether you’re using it then or not – is not the most environmentally friendly way to operate. The new tankless water heaters are much more energy efficient, because they only heat the water as you need it. They are an “on-demand” source of hot water, so you will save quite a bit on your energy costs over the course of a year.
