Using Isotretinoin For Rosacea

When a desperate need arises in an instance of serious rosacea, a physician or dermatologist will recommend a drug called isotretinoin. This drug is not used in simple cases of rosacea because it harbors a potential for intense side effects. If you are pregnant or are likely to become pregnant during the treatment of rosacea, then do not take this drug as it is linked to serious birth defects. Because of the severity of the effects of isotretinoin on the female reproductive system, a female of childbearing age is required to engage in a program in which she is monitored during the use of this drug. Isotretinoin can cause a rise in liver enzymes, cholesterol, or triglycerides in the blood. It may be associated also with a certain bowel condition. rosacea patients are very cautiously given this drug.
