What Is A DSL Bandwidth Speed Cap?

In recent years, consumers have grown aware of a certain trend that many internet service providers implement in order to limit the bandwidth on a server. This is referred to as a DSL bandwidth speed cap. Speed caps are mostly put into place for subscribers on a residential plan. This cap works to ensure that the customer does not exceed a particular speed at any given time. While this may seem a bit on the unfair side, these companies actually have a logical explanation on why this is put into place. First, it allows the ISP to provide service to many different customers. Second, it has been determined that most residential services do not require a large amount of bandwidth. Third, it ensures that all customers are permitted the same amount of bandwidth in their internet service.
