I have been looking for the best indoor herb garden kit for my window. It is a rather small space as far as the width but it is pretty deep. I would have to have like tall herbs in back and short ones in front. But I think that the herbs would get a lot of light and that’s important. I have been doing a lot of research on the internet and there is a lot of information available. There are a lot of sales going on right now and some even offer free shipping. Now that’s a good deal!

Across the planet earth an amazing process is continuously taking place. Plant parts and animal leavings rot or decompose with the help of fungi, bacteria, and other microorganisms. Earthworms and an assortment of insects do their part digesting and mixing the plant and animal matter together. The result is a marvelous, rich, and crumbly layer of organic matter we call compost, which is nature’s gift to the gardener. Compost encourages earthworms and other beneficial organisms whose activities help plants grow strong and healthy. It provides nutrients and improves the soil. Wet clay soils drain better and sandy soils hold more moisture if amended with compost. A compost pile keeps organic matter handy for garden use and, as an added advantage, keeps the material from filling up overburdened landfills.

Many experts in container gardening would state that the most important aspect of container gardening is getting the right compost for you plant. The majority of plants will be more than happy with a general multi-purpose compost, but for any trees or shrubs which will stay in their pots for more than a year, it is best to choose a loam-based compost, like John Innes No.3. Be sure to check the label or packet to find out if they have any specific needs, such as lime haters which would require a ericaceous compost, succulents and cacti which need specialist compost, and alpines which require to very free-draining soil produced by mixing gardening grit into compost.

My mother has always been the type that no matter how many times we’ve moved around the country due to my fathers work, and no matter how long or short the stay, she would always make sure to create herself a little garden somewhere in the yard. I guess it has always been her little getaway of sorts. Now though, with dad being retired and mom having all the time she wants, I am going to get her a couple of outdoor garden sheds for her to be able to put all of the stuff she uses in her gardening, just as a present of sorts for their anniversary this coming spring.

Everyone buys new garden sheds in spring, right? Wrong! I really needed a new shed before the winter as my old one could get blown away (now that would save me a job!). I was looking around at resin storage sheds and they just happened to have several in an end of season sale. Not only that, as they have nothing much to do this time of year, they said they’d come and put it up for me. How could I say no? In fact, I’m sitting in the warm right now watching them do just that.

If you’re looking for a durable, high quality storage shed you can’t go wrong with Rubbermaid. Their sheds come in several sizes and designs, from simple deck boxes to full size sheds capable of storing all your yard and garden tools as well as various other things. When choosing a rubbermaid storage shed you’ve got two significant styles to choose from – vertical or horizontal. Vertical sheds are taller, perfect for storing things like shovels, rakes and other long yard tools, while horizontal sheds are lower and wider. They’re better suited for storing things like bags of dirt, fertilizer and other smaller stuff. The horizontal models are also great for storing your garbage cans to protect them from the elements and animals that might try to find themselves a midnight snack – tossing everything all over your yard in the process.

The ph balance of your worm bin is one of the most important aspects of your worm farms. There are ph meters and a ph scale. But what exactly are you measuring?
The ph of the soil is a measure of the acidity or alkalinity of that soil or bedding. A measurement of 7 means that the soil is completely neutral, everything is in balance. It is based on a scale of 0 to 14.
The readings from 7 to 0 are the acidic end of the scale. The closer to 0 the measurements are, the more acidic the soil. The other side of the scale, from 7 to 14 is the alkaline side. The closer to 14, the more alkaline minerals are present in the soil.
The use of lime can help balance an acidic soil, while the addition of sulfur can help an alkaline soil. Bringing your soil back into balance will take some time, but is necessary for healthy worm bins.

My inquiry to the shop attendant as to the availability of t – shirts with images of the plastic owls on them was not received with the same levity with which it was delivered. The formal wartime bunker or hunter's blind image of the centre is actually an all too accurate representation of not only Ducks Unlimited's philosophy but also the evolving relationship between humans and the natural environment or, for that matter, the urban environment.
