Most companies of any size employ many people as project managers, and it has long been a popular career choice for many people. Different companies perform project management differently, but there are common standards that most companies adhere to. For this reason, many companies like to see employees who have been certified in common project management practices. For the past forty years, the Project Management Institute has been helping to set the standard and today offers certification for Project Management Professionals (PMP). Pmi pmp certification is available by meeting certain criteria and passing a four hour, 200 word test. Maintenance of the certification requires continuing education.
